About IMPACT
IMPACT - Northeast (Influence Motivation Powered by an Action Community Team) was formed to address the lack of significant progress for children in the northeast corridor of the City of St. Louis. IMPACT’s mission is to train and develop our children for a more productive and prosperous future through awareness and programming initiatives in the areas of mentoring, education, health, and economic empowerment.
The geographic focus area is the northeast corridor of St. Louis and includes four (4) target schools: Walbridge Elementary, Herzog Elementary, Northwest Academy and Beaumont High School. The goal is to provide integrated services during the school day, after school and during the summer. Those services include prevention and intervention services in the areas of arts & crafts, crime & gang prevention, drug & substance, health & fitness, leadership, mental health, mentoring, music and dance, community service projects, sports and recreation, tutoring and literacy.
IMPACT was convened by the St. Louis Mental Health Board at the request of community leaders, who saw the need for additional services in the neighborhoods, and collaborated with several organizations to provide services. It is currently a working group composed of representatives from organizations actively working in the area. These organizations which make up the IMPACT Advisory Board include: 100 Black Men-Metropolitan St. Louis Chapter, Interfaith Partnership/Faith Beyond Walls, the Hip-Hop Health Initiative, Riverview West Florissant Development Corporation, the Mental Health Board, St. Louis CAN, National City, Living Word Apostolic Church, Tucker Consultants, St. Louis Juvenile Court-22nd District and 27th Ward Alderman Gregory Carter.
100 Black Men will serve as Lead Agency and Fiscal Agent, and options for long term organizational development are currently being explored. The 100 was chosen as lead agency because of its significant standing in the community and access to community partners, dedication to youth development through its extensive mentoring and other youth support programs, and commitment to effective and fiscally responsible management. Beginning with its new building in 2007, the 100 is planning significant growth to substantially increase its impact in the community and envisions IMPACT as an important part of that growth.
