History

IMPACT has been serving the youth of St. Louis since 2008.  Alderman Greg Carter, of the 27th ward, saw the need for additional resources for kids in his neighborhood and worked with the St. Louis Mental Health Board and The 100 Black Men of Metro St. Louis to start a program that provided holistic programs for youth.  The first programs were in partnership with NCADA and Sista Keeper and served the youth of Beaumont High School, Northwest Middle School, and Herzog Elementary in the Summer of 2008.  A Project Director, Latricia Buckner, was hired to lead the organization in November of that year, and currently serves as our Executive Director.  In the first two years, IMPACT partnered with 25 different organizations and served over 400 kids in the St. Louis area in the areas of gang and crime prevention, drug and substance abuse prevention, mentoring, health and fitness, tutoring and literacy.

In June of 2010, IMPACT officially became a government-designated 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  As a non-profit, we are moving towards an exclusive focus on enhancing educational opportunities for youth, starting in neighborhoods of St. Louis.  We provide programs directly in schools that supplement and enhance what is being taught during the school day.  IMPACT is committed to making youth excited about learning, using the most innovative technology and, of course, fun!
